During that time as CEO Mr. Laflin led the company through several multi-million-dollar public offerings to support new business development opportunities and grew the Company from $3 million to over $12 million per year in sales.

Experience:

President & Chief Executive Officer  |  International Isotopes, Inc. (INIS), Idaho Falls ID  |  August 2001 –September 2023

Directed all corporate management, financial operations, and strategic planning for the public corporation. Directed extensive business development through investment in facility assets which has led to a significant annual rate of growth for the corporation and expansion into several new business areas and opportunities. Specific highlights include:


  • Developed corporate business plan and orchestrated a complete transition of corporate headquarters, mission, and management structure to a nuclear facility operating in Idaho Falls.
  • Managed the Company’s successful transition to implement ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 and Current Good Manufacturing (cGMP) manufacturing facility per 10 CFR Parts 211 and 212.
  • Managed the successfully application of an amended New Drug Application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for sodium Iodide I-131 for the treatment of Thyroid cancer and hyperthyroidism. After approval successfully grew production and marketing to capture approximately 30% of the total U.S. market share of this product.
  • Oversaw facility and process system design/construction for the installation of equipment and processes to support all the company’s new product manufacturing capability including several Class 1 medical devices.
  • Expanded international sales of all the nuclear medicine related products distributed un the name of RadQual.
  • Established a business, quality, customer service, and safety culture for the corporation which has gained positive national notoriety with our regulators and customers.
  • Identified key intellectual property and patents for acquisition which have allowed the corporation to expand into the areas of uranium processing and fluorine extraction.


President & General Manager  |  International Isotopes Idaho, Inc.  |  October 1996 –August 2001

Developed the business plan and orchestrated the first ever commercialization of a Department of Energy site for isotope production. Created the initial company subsidiary (MAC Isotopes LLC) which was a subsidiary of Mactec of Golden Colorado. In 1998 International Isotopes Inc. acquired MAC Isotopes and the company name was changed to International Isotopes Idaho Inc.


  • Orchestrated and supervised all business start-up activities including acquisition of facilities, hiring, and establishing accounting systems/controls
  • Successfully negotiated contracts with the Department of Energy and its M&O Contractors for facility leases, reactor access, and services acquisition.


Department Manager – Isotope Production  |  Idaho National Engineering Laboratory Site  |  May 1994 – October 1996 

Supervised an extensive refurbishment and maintenance of a Department of Energy hot cells facility and successfully completed both contractor and DOE Operational Readiness Reviews. Managed all aspects of the M&O contractors Isotope Production department which included a budget of about 2 million dollars and a staff of fifteen people.


Radiological Controls Engineer  |  Idaho National Engineering Laboratory Site  |  June 1988 - May 1994

Provided radiological control engineering input and expertise for field work and reactor plant maintenance of the Advanced Test Reactor and other areas in and around the Test Reactor Area.
